It has been a long time since we updated the blog. We have endured a couple of bumps regarding legal issues of the state delaying our finalization. The wonderful news is that on Aug. 2nd, 2010, we finalized our adoption. It was a great day. We felt a final relief knowing that the boys are our sons. Their silly little smiles looked at us that day as our official sons.
We have moved through many different stages of behaviors and we are sure there are many more to come. The boys are doing very well, have adjusted amazingly to structure. The kids are both doing well in school. Nick is in 6th grade and Jeremiah is in 1st grade. They love to share all they have learned. Jeremiah is reading a ton in school and Nick is very social.
With our family of 4 and 3 dogs I often compare us to the Weasleys from Harry Potter. I like to use this comparison because Mrs. Weaseley is fantastic and her kids are hysterical. Mr Weasley is funny and brave just like Matt. I can see both boys some day fighting dark forces and standing up for what is right. Our home, like theirs is always busy. We often have extra children running around laughing and making a mess. We would not want it any other way though!
I also want to acknowledge National Adoption Month of November. This month adoption advocates all over and trying to give information, education and help with adoption services.
